Nolan Gur, the heavenly jaggery based ice cream was one of the must eats on my recent trip to Kolkata. I had eaten it once in Bojohori Manna in Bombay and it was like love at first sight.

I discovered Pabrai’s Natural Ice cream and straight away rushed to their outlet for the Nolan Gur ice cream. They claim to be the experts in it and I salute them.

After visiting the shop I realized it’s a big chain in India. Mostly southern India. They had many more interesting flavors apart from their authentic Nolan Gur.

Lemongrass, watermelon, bubblegum, sandal etc. are some of the intriguing flavors. They also offer a full flavors tasting session if you are visiting their outlet for the first time. I tasted around 10 -12 flavors and ended up eating three of them.

The lemongrass is an interesting flavor all together and it questions you in every bite when you eat it in the ice cream form.

Nolan gur is the jaggery ice cream which has a heavenly melted jaggery syrup topping on it. It is like eating mishti doi ice cream. It is definitely a must eat thing before you die.

This place is heavenly and I would always visit them on my visit to Kolkata. Do go there and taste all their interesting offerings and the heavenly Nolan Gur.
