Wanna try the authentic steamed ukadiche modak? Head to Modakam!!

It was Ganesha Chaturthi time and I was keen on trying the authentic Ukadiche Modak. I had tried many flavours and kinds but the authentic modak i.e. Ukadiche is served fresh, hot and steamed. After a lot of research I was told to visit Modakam.

As the name suggest the small shop is right outside the entrance of the busiest temple in India, The Siddhi Vinayak. The small shop has a seating capacity of 10-12 people and is always crowded and full of devotees.

You can order a lot of Marathi dishes such as Misal pav, Kothimbit vadi etc. All tasted well. But my eyes were keen on the ukadiche modak so I straight away ordered it.

This modak is like a momo. Steamed layer of atta stuffed with heavenly jaggary & coconut mixture. It tasted best when it is served hot. They serve it with a dash of desi ghee. After eating one I straight away ordered a second plate.

DO visit the place for ukadiche modaks specially during Ganesha Chaturthi. It is a must try and way different from the usual barfi based modaks served all around Bombay.
