Yes, you read it right!! After using an activated charcoal face wash from the past 4 years, I recently bought a charcoal soap. Both the products are great.
But recently I saw pictures of this black ice cream on instagram. I paid a usual visit to my favourite Ice Cream recently and to mus surprise they had a range of new flavours.
My usual order is their Sugar free Shahi Anjeer which is a delight to me and I gorge on a sandwich without the guilt of eating more calories. Their USP is the way they sell ice cream slabs instead of scoops and cones. A slice of ice cream is covered with a rectangular wafer on both sides and you have it, a crispy cone covering and the sweet, cold ice cream between it in every bite.
Mothichoor flavour was their latest offering. It actually had those small laddoo pellets and the ice cream tasted heavenly. Falooda is also one of their latest unique offerings, which is like a glass of falooda frozen to make an ice cream. Really loved eating a falooda this time rather than drinking it.
Then comes the black ice cream. I really appreciated the dialogue from the owner “Sir, shauq hai humko isliye banwatey hai naye flavours, aapko kisi aur Dairy Don outlet mein nahi milega!!” My love for this Dairy Don outlet in Malad West increased manyfolds after hearing the passion of the owner. He also made me taste the black ice cream because he said it is an acquired taste and he doesn’t want anyone to waste money on a scoop if they don’t end up liking it. Compared to the market rates of Rs. 250+, he made it sure to keep a scoop for a mere Rs. 90/- and an additional Rs. 10/- for the black cone.
The ice cream is really worth the hype and all the glamour. Though it looks weird but it tasted really good. The best part is that after it melts in your mouth it leave the taste of actual coal dust/particles in your mouth. The dusty charcoal after taste is something really unique and totally worth trying. It reminded me of eating Crackle in my childhood days. If you are a hokka smoker, or a great fan of roasted food items I am pretty sure you would have ended up tasting charcoal/coal by mistake.
They have around 40-50 different flavours. Do go there and try them out. Specially the black charcoal ice cream. I bet you wouldn’t be able to stop after eating 1 scoop!!
